Rare Rosemary Squires Rare Vinyl LPs – Signed By The Lady Herself…

Our South West based buyer ventured out recently to meet with Rosemary Squires herself. Having been lucky enough to acquire for sale some of her personal collection in the past, she decided recently to move on some more items from her archive.  Here are our top two, signed by her in person…

My Love Is A Wanderer – 1993 Japanese issue of the extremely rare 1957 12-track mono LP, complete with Japanese/lyric insert, picture sleeve reproducing the original album artwork. What makes this copy very special indeed, apart from the superb condition, is that it is marked ‘R.S.’ in the top right corner as indication that this copy is from Rosemary’s own personal collection and has has been clearly autographed ‘Sincerely, Rosemary Squires’ on the front in blackmarker pen! Everything’s Coming Up Rosy – Super rare 1963 UK 12-track Mono vinyl LP, complete with the original poly-lined company inner, front laminated flipback picture sleeve CLP1669. Both sleeve and vinyl remain in excellent condition with few signs of being over fifty years old but that’s actually not what makes this album very special indeed, it’s the story behind it.

The front of the album has the original store sticker from when it was purchased, an additional sticker with ‘Rare Copy Original Sleeve Etc.’ and the annotated initials ‘R.S.’ in the top right corner.
Apparently Rosemary Squires herself was never given a copy of this album and did not own one, so this was tracked down on her behalf and sold to her for a notional £10 by friends who owned a record shop in Bexhill-on-Sea.
This is the one and only copy of this record actually owned by Rosemary Squires herself.
The additional sticker and ‘R.S.’ initials confirm this.

Why should you believe this story ?

Well, along with this album there is a handwritten postcard dated 12/10/2002 with Rosemary’s own personal header. The writing extends to both sides of the postcard and describes the story of how Rosemary never actually owned a copy before and eventually had to buy a copy of her own LP. In addition, she mourns the fact that the extremely talented musicians who backed her on this album were simply dismissed anonymously as ‘Instrumental Accompaniment’.
The postcard ends with a lovely ‘To this epistle I sign my name proudly’ with her autograph beneath.

From the personal collection of Rosemary Squires herself, not only do we have an extremely rare LP but unique provenance and an autographed handwritten personal postcard describing the circumstances that she acquired it.
A superb record from a very lovely lady & a unique collectable ! Read more here
