Happy 20th Anniversary Dave Joyce – Twenty Years at eil.com today!
Recent months have seen a flurry of 20th Anniversary celebrations, with both Cheryl and J.P. having passed this employment milestone, and now Dave Joyce joins this illustrious roll-call with 20 years on the clock too!
So let’s set the scene: January 6th 1997, a sprightly Dave starts his first working day at Esprit International Limited, John Major was Prime Minister, Bill Clinton was US president, Trainspotting was on at the cinema and Dave’s (secret) faves the Spice Girls were number one in the charts with ‘2 Become 1’ – so now you know!
Talking with Davo (David to his mum!), it’s evident how drastically the company has changed over the past twenty years, in ’97 that new-fangled internet/email was just being introduced, most sales were coming in via the phone with a team of 5 dedicated to telesales alone!
Dave’s first role was sales based, looking after the Japanese accounts, in more recent years he’s graduated to stock room manager, taking great care in organising the warehouse/stock room. In fact, what can’t Dave turn his hand to? In addition to the above roles he’s pretty darn good with a tool-kit too – any maintenance needed around the office – Dave’s the ‘go-to-guy’!
Needless to say, Dave’s conscientious, methodical approach combined with a real passion for music (Elvis is Dave’s fave) and twenty years’ experience within different parts of the company have made him an essential part of the eil.com team.
