The laminated pass features the band name logo, Africa shaped guitar logo and Access All Areas text, all in black on a blue background. The back as already mentioned has been nicely signed Best Wishes David Gilmour, clearly not in a hurry and in black marker pen, with the black fabric lanyard still attached.

The hardback edition of the book has been signed and annotated ‘Since the Live 8 story is only contained in the paperback, I suggest reading the postscript in the accompanying Book Nick Jan’06’ all in black felt pen. The paperback edition has also been signed & annotated on the title page ‘To accompany the hardback Live 8 donation Nick Mason’ also in black felt pen.

We are also including a copy of the Christie’s Pop Culture catalogue from the 15th November 2011, where these actual items were auctioned.

History
Cast your mind back to the 2nd July 2005, to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Live Aid and timed to precede the G8 conference and summit, a string of benefit shows were held. The London concert was held in Hyde Park and featured a stellar line-up of artists, but without a doubt the surprise of the whole event was the classic line-up of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters with Dave Gilmore, Nick Mason and Richard Right, together for the first time in twenty four years, last time they performed as a group was at Earls Court back in 1981.

The band performed the songs Speak To Me, Breathe/Breathe (Reprise), Money, Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb. As on the original recordings, Gilmour sang the lead vocals on Breathe and Money, and shared them with Waters on Comfortably Numb, whilst on Wish You Were Here, Waters sung half of the verse’s lyrics, unlike the original recording.

They were the only band not to be verbally introduced; instead the house & stage lights were lowered whilst the introduction to the first song was played with animated visuals of the heart monitor from the Dark Side Of The Moon sleeve
