Prince’s Purple Rain shirt fetches almost $100,000 at California auction

White ruffled shirt sells for 32 times its asking price of $3,000-$5,000, while blazer also fetches $96,000 after musician’s death in April A white ruffled shirt that was worn by Prince in the film Purple Rain has sold at auction for 32 times its asking price, fetching nearly $100,000. The New Romantic-style ivory silk shirt and a black-and-white blazer from the 1984 film sold for $96,000 (£72,300) each at the sale in California. Radiohead’s new album is ‘a work of art’, says collaborator Stanley Donwood

Radiohead‘s long-time visual collaborator Stanley Donwood has confirmed that he has heard the band’s new album, describing the LP as “a work of art”. Radiohead are expected to release a new album shortly, having recently announced a UK tour alongside a series of summer festival dates. Donwood has worked with the group since producing the cover art for their 1994 single ‘My Iron Lung’. Rolling Stones arrive in Cuba for historic free concert in Havana, in pictures

Hundreds of thousands of Cubans are expected Friday at the Rolling Stones’ first gig on the communist island, with fans once banned from listening to rock ‘n roll heralding a dream come true. The four superstars led by Mick Jagger flew in late Thursday for the free-of-charge concert at Havana’s Ciudad Deportivo sports center. Cuban state media forecasted that about 500,000 people were to fill the playing fields, with music industry magazine Billboard reporting that as many people again could swarm into neighboring streets.
